It is true that many historical sites and museums are indeed impressed by foreign tourists. Compared to the past, these places are not the same as having important roles with local residents now. Why does it fall in this situation?
It seems museums or many other sites are some of the most valuable heritages of a city. It supports people in making exploration in the origin of this place, so that would be visited by anyone, not only travelers. But it is sad that in this digital age, the rise of many sources of information on the Internet caused a significant decrease in the value of places. By this I mean, that due to the convenience the Internet has made, people tend to access information and experiences quickly from their homes instead of going to these places. In particular, some museums require a high entrance fee, especially with people on a tight budget, it is also a limitation we have to consider.
In my opinion, to attract local people, historical sites should offer free admission days or discounted rates to solve the problem of tight budgets. Moreover, they have to expand their opening time, ensuring having enough different times for anyone to visit when they are available.
