Band 7+: Many museums and historical sites are mainly visited by tourists and not local people. Why is this the case? What can be done to attract local people? Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from own knowledge or experience.

One of the most important ways to understand history is by visiting museums and heritage sites in our own regions. However, the number of local residents in these locations has decreased dramatically. As a result, historical sites are mainly visited by tourists. On the one hand, this phenomenon is due to a busy lifestyle, particularly in urban areas. On the other hand, several measures should be taken in order to address this problem. In this essay, I will explore both problems and solutions.

First and foremost, there are various reasons for this phenomenon. Initially, urbanization forces people to work hard, leaving them with little time to visit such places. For instance, employees have one or two days off per week, which they usually spend with family members and engaging in recreational activities. Furthermore, many people prefer other leisure activities in their free time, such as going to the cinema or trendy cafés. Consequently, many people in such communities lack historical knowledge.

However, some measures could help increase the number of local visitors to historical sites, such as monuments. Governments play a significant role in encouraging society to visit these sites. For instance, they should implement incentives to attract all generations, starting with employees and students in schools, universities, and companies. If people are encouraged to visit museums for free, they will be more likely to explore these sites independently. As a result, the number of visitors from local community will rise significantly.

In conclusion, exploring historical sites is essential for preserving cultural identity. All in all, governments should make an effort to promote historical awareness among locals and implement measures to attract them to heritage sites.

Local people are less attracted to visit their museums and historical places than tourists. This trend is mainly due to the entrance cost and the lack of free-time in modern societies. However, some solutions can be implemented to tackle this issue. One of the main reason for locals to rarely visit their cultural attractions is […]
