In today’s society, public transportation is very prevalent in human life. It is convenient for people to use public transport. Many people believe that free public transportation should be available in most major cities. I will write about the advantages and disadvantages of this idea.
Firstly, protect the environment when using public transport. Environmental protection is currently a concern in all countries around the world. The amount of dust emitted by motor vehicles and factories is increasing, causing a lot of damage. Using public transportation available everywhere can help many people save costs. For those who do not have personal transportation, they will often use services such as motorbikes, taxis, etc., but these are services with extremely expensive costs, especially for new students studying in the city. Lastly, punctuality of practice gives us the ability to be on time. Usually, public transportation such as buses or trains will have certain travel hours. Because of that, when we go to work, we will know how many minutes the route may take. Not only is it possible that each bus trip will have a duration of 20-30 minutes, but for trains, it will be displayed on the website or at the station, helping us practice punctuality to be able to catch the bus or train you want to get to work of going out.
However, public transport has many disadvantages. Firstly, it is very noisy, with some passengers gossiping or speaking at a ‘very natural’ volume when getting on the bus, and the conversation only ends when they get off the bus. Secondly, there is a lack of respect for passengers. It is considered normal for drivers and bus assistants to have a disrespectful attitude toward passengers. Furthermore, you may be scolded because passengers remind the driver to drive carefully. Last but not least, driving recklessly makes passengers afraid. Vietnam has the world’s leading traffic accident death rate. The subjectivity of knowing the route, the terrain, and the hasty mindset of some drivers make your trip filled with fear.
In conclusion, there are both positive and negative aspects of using public transportation. Personally, I still believe that public transport is advantageous when the government builds a modern public transport system to avoid the drawbacks.
