The gap between rich and poor people and its contribution to happiness of a society has always sparked debate among people. This essay will discuss two opposing views about whether this gap has a significant role in the happiness of a community or not.
On the one hand, becoming a rich person has always been a high goal for most people, encouraging them to work harder, smarter, and more efficiently, as these are the key factors to achieving a high salary. Therefore, by reducing the income gap, many people lose their motivation. Eventually, the society and economy will never experience growth and will remain still. For example, one of my dreams is to become a wealthy person to purchase everything I need. By reducing this gap, I do not need to work harder toward my goal. Therefore, I desperately lose my life’s meaning.
On the other hand, some people argue that 90% of the money is for 10% of people, and money is distributed unbalancely. Therefore, while some people have access to high-quality products and facilities, there are a lot of people who suffer to buy and prepare essential products for their lives. With a decrease in the salary of wealthy people and an increase for the poor people, the money will be distributed more evenly and society will reach a certain level of equality and justice.
In conclusion, having a small gap between the wealth of the rich and the poor people leads to a society in which people have no goals or aspirations. Making this gap larger makes society unbalanced and divided into two distinct groups of people, very rich people, and indigent ones. Thus, a balance between these two stances would be a better choice for a society where there is a gap but it’s not very large.
