There is an ongoing debate about who needs to manage scientific research, the government or private companies. At the moment, I completely agree with the statement that says governments should supervise scientific research. This essay will discuss the main reasons why I have this point of view and I will support it with some relative examples.
Firstly, the government, while conducting the research, has a different approach than private companies, prioritizing public welfare. For instance, private companies focus more on the profit matter which can not be let to happen in the main domains. A clear examples are health care, food protection and environmental safety should be conducted for the benefit of society rather than corporate gain. Therefore, governments are in a better position and can be more trustable when it comes to such an important activity as research.
Secondly, governments are giving access to the information that has been discovered. For example, private companies choose to hide the date from research because they want to be the one that can produce or influence a certain case. As an example, when the information is public more advanced study can be done, also the information can be used in the teaching process. Hence, keeping precious details for private companies could lead to unnecessary troubles that stop evolution or further discovery in the same field.
To conclude, conducting research is a crucial part of evolution and general well-being. In my opinion, the government should be the one that manages scientific research because it has less interest in hiding details. Thus, private companies have reasons to act for their profit and be selfish in order to share their information.
