It is a common belief that social media such as Instagram, Facebook, YouTube harm people, especially youngsters and overall, society. I disagree with this sentiment that its influences bad for both individuals and society, I do believe that there are more issues with health.
First of all, in fast-developed life most of the interpersonal communication takes place online. More and more people use widely social networking sites, because they can easily find any information on different topics, keep in touch with family, friends when they are in abroad. Moreover, students can take online courses, not only young adults have this opportunity, but othera also can fin new jobs or earn money. In addition, business can promote new products or services as these platforms can build brand awareness. In other words, social media offers more options to enhance communication, maintain relationships and stay warned of breaking news all over the world.
However, there are several drawbacks to consider. Firstly, social networking sites are essential in the origin of mental health problems. It can negatively impact our overall, wellbeing by fueling anxiety, depression and loneliness. These conditions are mostly prevalent in teens. Given its damage, people’s productivity is reducing day by day. Furthermore, with this fact comes loss of privacy and spread of delusion. For instance, when users sign up for an account, they agree to the terms of and situations which enable social networking sites to collect data. Also deception to digital platforms can have a adverse effect on social cohesion, hence might lead to the fragmentation of cyber bullying. Finally, it is a common phrase that social media is a “double edged sword” that both greatly benefits and can seriously harm individual and collective health.
To conclude, I agree social media offers many alternative sides, such as being a special part of the world community. On the other hand I believe that the danger it poses to our health and personality has negative consequences.
