In modern society, some individuals think that new buildings should follow the conventional style of houses in rural areas, while others argue that they should have more choices to build their own styles. In my opinion, both styles have their own benefits and they are totally based on homeowner preferences.
On the one hand, some people pursue to build their house in a conventional way because they want to preserve family tradition. In many countries, particularly in Asia, preserving cultural house heritage is the way they remember their ancestors, connect with cultural values and remind them of something in their childhood. Moreover, in terms of architecture, building modern houses alongside traditional houses fail to blend in with housing which has grown organically.
On the other hand, others prefer to build their houses in a modern way because they are concerned about the cost of construction. Building conventional houses requires an amount of materials which is quite expensive recently. In terms of materials, all of them have to be an original version and it requires a variety of details which involve a lot of organization. Moreover, the maintenance costs of houses in the old way tend to be higher compared to modern houses. For example, traditional houses use a considerable amount of wood which has become increasingly rare nowadays and it may be replaced by cement and stones to build modern buildings.
In conclusion, building traditional and modern houses have their own beauty and meanings. In my opinion, it depends on individuals’ needs and preferences.
