A large dose of violence can be seen in pop-cultural product—movies, comics, short videos on YouTube, and most widely TV programs. While violence is an existing component in society, the over-expression of it on TV can lead to serious troubles under some conditions, and I would like to list quite a few of the troubles mentioned above and personal solutions to them.
Each country or region, has different problems to face. While population under the influence of Western culture—not only geologically western, but also culturally, listing countries like Japan under this description–worries more about an infiltrating effect of regarding violence as normal, or even good thing that erupt in a relatively later stage of life like early adulthood. Meanwhile, a completely unalike form of problem raised in China and the liking of it—local parents worry more about kids learning to do the same thing on TV, not mentally, but physically, such as hopping down the roof, not expecting to get hurt after watching a series of Tom and Jerry, where Tom often gets ridiculously flatten, beaten, but not harmed. The develop of internet now speeds the concern in China to the former type from the latter though.
The solution in fact lies right in the problem to me. As the internet—TV violence included—drive the kids to learn cruel things earlier, it also gives them a early knowledge of distinguishing reality from comic, which is the reason of transition in China. The prevention of former type is more like a society problem rather than problem of TV to me, as I do not perceive the current generation as more exposed to violence than generations before—killing of herds at farms, as an example.
In conclusion, different regions has different problem, but the ideal solution should be creating a better society rather than concern about TV.
