The Earth has an ecosystem that thrives on balanced existence of species. Each organism needs to be protected for an harmonious biosystem. However, many people feel it is a waste of money to try to save endangered animal species. Although the arguments against the expenditure were considerable, I would disagree with the viewpoint raised to not save the species.
Every organism has a unique role to play in the ecosystem. Tigers, to exemplify, are the apex predators who keep herbivores in check from overgrazing the lands. So that the grasslands would have enough resources for the future. Nevertheless, the unnatural poaching and overriding habitats made survival difficult for them. Now the Bengal Tigers are considered one of the endangered species that needs to be protected.
Similarly, the Blue whale is an organism that contributes to marine life significantly. When it dies, a phenomenon popularly known as The Whale Fall, it becomes food for over 100 ocean species that ranges from small fish to microorganisms. Endangering an organism as such can bring species to an extent of extinction, leading to the disruption of marine life nutrient cycling. The principal factors contributing to the decline of blue whales included historical large scale hunting, fishing-related threats, ship collisions and environmental changes.
While it is undeniable that conservation of species can be financially demanding, the extinction will cause permanent adverse effects. To summarise, protection of endangered species like tigers and blue whales is a sustainable method to build a cohesive future. Moreover, policies such as Eco-tourism and wildlife preservation, creates more job opportunities and brings economic benefits for the people
