Education plays a pivotal role in the lives of individuals, and it is important to have a good degree of educational level where necessary. However, higher education becomes a privilege to certain people and a dream to others who cannot afford it.
In my opinion, the statement would be more applicable in the past where access to information was limited and people could only have good quality of education and life skills at school where they would be certified as professionals with certain expertise. In other words, the higher the education, the better the job they would acquire.
However, that is not the case in this day and age where the internet has been democratized and people can access information on any skills they wish to learn on the fingertips. While formal school is important, it is no longer the only means for an individual to learn from and get a good quality of education. With the emergence of life skill training on the internet, people can now have access to dozens of resources online.
At the same time, having a good paying job nowadays doesn’t really require a university diploma. One can provide their work portfolio, and with the presence of freelance job websites, such as upwork, fiver, and sribulancer, one can land on his/her dream job. So to some extent I believe that while having completed a course in the university and getting a diploma is a good thing, it is not necessary to land an individual on a good paying job.
