Opinions are divided on whether affordable air travel should be promoted or restricted due to environmental concerns. Although cheap flights may cause certain ecological problems, I believe they should be encouraged as they provide significant benefits to ordinary citizens.
Admittedly, the aviation industry poses serious environmental threats that justify higher ticket prices. Firstly, carbon emissions from aircraft represent a major concern for global sustainability. Specifically, planes burn massive amounts of fossil fuel during takeoff and long-distance flights, releasing greenhouse gases into the atmosphere at high altitudes. As a result, this accelerates global warming and contributes to extreme weather events worldwide. Moreover, air quality deterioration around major cities becomes increasingly problematic for public health. For instance, frequent flights increase pollution levels near major airports, creating smog and toxic particles that significantly affect nearby communities. Consequently, this causes respiratory problems and serious health issues for local residents.
However, I am convinced that budget airlines offer more substantial advantages to society overall. Most importantly, economic opportunities through affordable travel significantly improve people’s quality of life. For example, low-cost flights enable individuals to seek employment opportunities in different countries, providing access to better jobs and promising business prospects, which ultimately improves their living standards and long-term career development. Furthermore, cheap air travel plays a crucial role in strengthening family connections across vast distances. Specifically, many families live in different countries due to migration and work opportunities, and affordable flights allow regular visits that maintain important emotional relationships. As a result, this prevents emotional isolation and preserves essential family bonds that would otherwise be impossible to sustain.
In conclusion, while commercial aviation does contribute to environmental problems, I believe the benefits of accessible air travel in creating economic opportunities and maintaining family relationships far outweigh these concerns.
