In this modern age, a host of people contend that fast food advertisements should be banned, in contrast, others assume that fast food companies are obliged to promote their products. From my perspective, I hold the opinion that advertising fast food must become illegal. In this essay, I will give my own opinion and clarify both views.
On the one hand, fast food adverts provide people a freedom of choice. The reason is that healthy food might be exorbitant for most people. In America, it is normal to have a 1 dollar meal with a hamburger and a cup of coke. However, to have a nutritious meal, people living in the USA should have at least 30 dollars. Consequently, people often opt to purchase a fast food meal. Nevertheless, over-consuming convenience food leads to obesity among middle-class people in the US.
On the other hand, meals provided with fast food appear everywhere such as in school canteens, in supermarkets, and in the high street. Hence, it is not vital to advertise them. In some Asian countries, the governments implemented a law prohibiting fast food advertising on TV and on social media. Thus, there is a worthless number of Asian people suffering from being overweight. These advertisements should encourage people to keep fit and provide them with information about how to eat a balanced and healthy diet, not to ruin their health and it would be irresponsible to promote their products.
To conclude, although fast food is more affordable for some people, I believe that the State authorities should forbid convenience food adverts.
