Nowadays, more people spend lot of hours for travelling to their workplace or school. Some people believe that this trend have many bad effects, while others think it can also bring some benefits. Although I agree that commuting can give certain advantages, I argue that the disadvantages are much more serious.
On the one hand, spending extra time on the road can bring some benefit. Firstly, long commutes allow individuals use their time better. For example, many workers listen to podcasts, audiobooks, or prepare tasks during their journey, which make the travelling more productive. Secondly, the time between home and work can serve like a transition period. This helps students or employees to relax, reduce stress, and get ready for study or work, which improve their focus and emotional balance.
On the other hand, the drawbacks of long commuting should not be ignore. The most obvious problem is health. Travelling many hours often results in tiredness, stress, and even physical pain such as backache. In big cities, commuters usually reports higher level of anxiety and lower efficiency because of this issue. Another important drawback is environment damage. More vehicles on the road mean more fuel consumption, which lead to higher carbon emissions and make both air quality and climate change worse. Therefore, the disadvantages affect not only personal life but also society.
In conclusion, while it is true that commuting may give people chances to study or relax, the harmful effects on health and environment are more significant. For this reason, it is important find ways to reduce commuting time to improve people life and protect the planet.
