In today’s contemporary world, many people struggle to manage their work-life balance, especially when they have families. This may burden individuals both physically and emotionally, such as concerning health issues and toxic relationships with their families as a result of work stress. However, there are numerous ways to tackle this problem
First of all, an increasing workload is one of the factors of increased stress since people have to work harder or work overtime to earn more salaries. In the statistics, around 25% of the world’s total employees work overtime for the sake of improved wages and living standards. Also, ambitious people tend to work overtime to enhance their work hierarchy for a better position, because the more prominent they are at a workplace, the better disposable income they may achieve. Furthermore, there is a risk of health issues affecting individuals’ lifestyles, preventing them from allocating their time for their families. Secondly, as a result of an economic downturn, many businesses become increasingly competitive; therefore, workers have to work harder to meet their tasks and salary requirements. However, some people who cannot compete lose their jobs.
Even though numerous people find it difficult to balance their work-life balance, governments, employers, and employees themselves can minimize the detrimental effects.
If the government increases employees’ salaries, people may not have to work overtime to earn higher salaries. Also, they may spend their spare time with their loved ones instead of working at the office and feel more energetic, which in the longer run affects the country’s GDP positively since their productivity rises. Moreover, firms could provide fringe benefits, incentives, or long vacations in order to satisfy their workers’ requirements and encourage a healthy work-life balance.
To conclude, while workload and economic downturns are major factors contributing to this problem, employers, the government, and employees can work together to alleviate its adverse effects. By prioritizing the well-being of workers, companies can form a more harmonious working environment where people can both thrive professionally and personally.
