It is irrefutable that the definition for success and being successful is a subjective question, which has resulted in a debate. Some people consider a pathway of study and career to become successful. However, people define success as per their perception and real-life experiences. This essay will delve into several ways people mean about success with compelling rationales, leveraging illustrative examples, and share my perspective on success.
Traditionally, higher education and successful career are considered as a parameter for being successful due to a plethora of reasons. To commence, for generations, they would have suffered from obtaining the fundamental necessities such as food, clothes and shelter, consequently, fulfilling their basic needs would be the prime criteria for overall success. Additionally, in the era of globalization and technological advancement, our success is compared with materialistic possessions, which can be achieved with rewarding career and studying with high grades. Hence, they prioritize education and career to define overall well-being.
Everyone has their own views and meanings for successful life. To begin with, while some people believe that living long and healthy life is the real success. others advocate for satisfaction in what we have and not striving for materialistic items is the true success. Furthermore, saints and monks, for instance, meditate and concentrate for eternal happiness to keep themselves immersed in the ocean of soul and nature, and such achievement provides them internal happiness, which they consider as the best definition of a successful person.
As per my perspective, rather than considering career or education or any other means as a criteria for success, we should focus on the spiritual way suggested by our religious saints. As materialistic success can be lost, and results in sadness, it appears futile and illusive. Nevertheless, the spiritual success lasts forever, which can not be stolen by anyone.
In conclusion, after a thorough examination of the aforementioned points, I strongly believe that while people have their deferred views for success, ultimate happiness resonates around spiritual salvation. If someone tries to define success, they should focus on a long-term success rather than short-term benefits.
