Tourism, nowadays generates a significant amount of national income and jobs in many countries economy and provide a major boost in country’s growth. This essay will discuss both views of tourism and provide logical conclusion and examples. Moreover, it will also explain why it advantages outweighs it disadvantages.
The main advantage of tourism that it creates great revenue and contribute in state’s wealth and produce a large number of jobs in local market. Firstly, the tourist will spend money on a wide range of services including hotels, food, transport and medical services. This way, tourism yield additional income, greatly contributes in countries’ economies. Secondly, tourism increase the job market for local people for example the tour guide jobs which is totally depends on tourism which will increase the demand of local guides and, the influx of tourists this will increase the demand of hotel and retail services. More hotel means more jobs in hotel sector which will includes hiring of chefs, waiters and staff which open the door of employment for local citizens.
But tourist have some major disadvantages as well. One of the main problems is destruction of popular tourist destination and development of illegal economic activities. Overcrowded places such as temples, lakes, ancient building and monuments got vast amount of traffic and get damaged. However large number of tourists increase large amount of land population such as garbage and waste. More tourist means more use of car, trains and transport vehicle that will increase carbon emissions and increase number of flights at the airport may also contribute significantly to air pollution as well.
To sum up all tourism have its pros and cons its totally depends on country’s tourism ministry or management how they manage things and make tourism in his country flavor economic rather than in its disadvantages. I believe that these benefits of tourism outweigh its drawbacks.
