Numerous immigrants in developed countries are being enlisted by high profile businesses. Those who oppose this idea think businesses are obligated to hire locally while others argue that employers should be employing globally. In this essay I’m going to analyze both viewpoints and illustrate how global employment benefit cross-national business giants. On one hand, a number of people believe that international corporations are required to hire the locals only as a way of supporting the local job market. This implies that citizens believe more international recruitment equals fewer employment opportunity for themselves. Citizens are driven by fear of scarcity in the job market and this leads them to reject the employing foreigners. On the other hand, some supporters postulate that multi-national institutions should fortify their talent pool by recruiting citizens from other countries. A benefit that can’t be overlooked is how this practice enhances a company’s technology level and cultural diversity. For internet giants like Google and Meta, educated engineers are invaluable assets, if they hire all over the world, their competitiveness advances.
It is my opinion that overseas employment is crucial to firms’ development as it can result in providing companies with cultural abundance. Institution with diverse pool of employees will be more familiar with different target markets and cultures. It will create local advantage for international brands selling their product. For instance, Apple can sell its product in China and Japan using the local language and advertising in ways that locals respect as a result of its numerous employees from Japan and China, they know the gap in culture and how to sell by addressing these.
All in all, the public is divided when it comes to hiring immigrants as others are convinced immigration leads to fewer job opportunities for the locals while others see the business advantage this practice brings to the companies. Personally, I support hiring internationally and utilizing foreign talents as it makes a company more culturally diverse.
