Band 6+: Many scientists believe that now we can study the behavior of a three-year-old child to see whether they will grow up to be criminals. To what extent do you think crime is determined by human nature? Is it possible to stop children from growing up to be criminal?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

There is an opinion among modern scientists that it is possible to determine whether a child who is a three-years-old now will perform illegal actions when they are adults. Some of them even say that it is part of nature of some humans. I find myself disagreeing with this point of view, but I do believe that parents can take actions to try and decrease the chance of their children to become a criminal in several years or decades. In following paragraphs I will give arguments for my opinion.

As I see it, people experience various changes of their body and mentality throughout their whole life. There are different stages of development that are connected with different levels of hormones, for example. According to these levels we can behave one way or another. That means that one person can have entirely opposite opinions on one subject when they are ten years old and twenty years old.

However, the age when we consume information and remember life lessons the most is, without a doubt, our childhood. No one can disagree with this widely known fact. That is why parents need to try and give their children the bases of decent and morally appropriate behaviour. Such actions can, in my opinion, prevent some future members of our society to become a criminal and harm other people.

In conclusion, recently descovered information make researchers imply that behaviour of a child in their first years can say if the kid have a potential to act agains the law when they are grown up. I consider such suggestions false because a child can change dramatically in several years. But I am still one of those people who believe that people can be taught in their childhood how to behave good once and forever because it is the most efficient time in terms of teaching. I hope that in the future we will find the way how to get rid of crime entirely.
