Several students choose to conduct a particular portion of their university education in foreign country. In my opinion, choosing abroad for studying can broaden one’s knowledge horizon. However, individuals will face initial challenges to cope with the new environment.
On one hand, it is imperative to gain essential knowledge from a student’s university stage. For this reason, many students especially students from developing countries are opting to go abroad so that they can possess and excel in their academic field. Studying in overseas can elevate one’s perspectives towards people as well as environment. One can learn about the people, food and cultural heritage of a new country which will enrich his general knowledge and will teach him to be more giving to the nature. Moreover, foreign countries are well developed, and their university facilities are of premium qualities. For example, a student studying engineering in London college will be able to use laboratory equipment’s which are of high configuration. Besides, he will get the opportunity to do practical work in a group where he needs to communicate with his mates from other countries. Consequently, his communication skill will be developed, and he will become more confident to compete with unknown people in life.
On the other hand, some students are home sick and at the very beginning he might feel lonely in absence of parents and friends. This can have a negative impact on studies and can cause depression sometimes. Additionally, language can a barrier for communicating with the local people. For example, in Canada some provinces using French language for communication. Anyone who has no proficiency in this particular language will find it difficult to keep pace with the new environment.
To conclude, studying abroad at any stage of university education has both advantages and disadvantages. In my opinion, the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. Students should explore other countries to gain essential knowledge irrespective of some initial complications to cope up with new environment.
