Advantage And Disadvantage

Band 6+: Many teenagers now have their own smart phone. What are the advantages and disadvantages of this and give your own opinion.

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

More and more adolescents are now owning a cell phone. While this can lead to addiction to gadgets, I believe that it enables children to learn and perform better at school.

The main disadvantage of massive phone usage is addiction to devices. Personal phones are entertaining and enjoyable to spend time on, making a teenager basically glued to them because it offers emotions that are hardly achievable in real life. This may leads to continued screen time and struggles in face-to-face interactions. For example, a Harvard University research concluded that almost 70% of adolescents that spend over 12 hours on their gadgets fail to communicate with their peers in real life conditions. Despite this, I believe that educational benefits of phones still take over the disadvantages.

Owning a phone allows teenagers to access new information and, therefore, learn more. Through cell phones, tonnes of free educational resources and videos make possible for adolescents to learn beyond school curricula. This can encourage curiosity and deep comprehension of not only school subjects but also topics of individual’s interest. According to a study by Journal of Education, in the span of the last decade, the percentage of high performing graduates at schools increased by approximately 33%. I believe that this makes the benefits Iphones remarkable and must be encourages among teenagers with needed moderation.

In conclusion, although smart phones can make teenagers addicted to them, leaving issues with face-to-face communication, they also can increase their academic performance and deeped their knowledge of different topics.
