There is not a shadow of doubt that many household tasks that were once done by hand are now completed by machines. It goes without saying that this development has its pros and cons. Therefore, while there are drawbacks to the change, I believe that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages.
On the one hand, one of the obvious benefits of using machines for household chores is time and energy saving. Such appliances as washing machines, vacuum cleaners and dishwashers allow people to complete daily tasks quickly and efficiently. For instance, the time saved can be better spent on work, nearest and dearest or leisure, which is especially valuable for those who are balancing busy schedules. Besides, household devices improve hygiene as they clean more thoroughly than manual methods, which is especially beneficial for families with children.
On the other hand, it could be argued that electronic devices reduce traditional skills, such as sewing or cooking from scratch, which can be significant for some cultures. Thus, the loss of these abilities could make individuals more dependent on technology and less autonomous. More than that, another commonly raised concern is the environmental impact. For example, higher energy consumption from household machines contributes to pollution and resource depletion, which can harm the planet.
In conclusion, although the use of machines in the home has certain minuses, pluses prevail over them. The convenience, time-saving and other advantages remain essential for most people nowadays, however, we should be concerned about the ecological footprint these devices make on our planet and continue valuing traditional competences.
