It is true that scientific research and inventions always help human life more innovate and develop. Thus, governmental intervention is essential to supervision such research. From my perspective, I believe that this trend has both merits and demerits.
First of all, it is necessary for scientific research to be supervised by government agencies, especially for privately-owned institution. For private organizations, they set financial profit as top priority, so in order to decrease costs as low as possible but still achieve the desired research results, they would disregard the well-being of the environment and natural species. Therefore, if there is goernmental intervision and oversight, businesses will coerced to comply with sustainable and eco friendly practices.
Nevertheless, intervention would pose many complicated problems for the government. Monitoring all scientific works including private institutions and laboratories is daunting for the government as this would overwhelm their human resources. Moreover, to get private companies ready to conduct research and experiments, the government has to spend lots of time and effort on bureauratic, which is a complicated papers approval procedure.
In conclusion, the scientific field would help human life become better, hence, the governments’ participation in supervision is necessary. However, they also need to consider carefully to avoid laking public workers.
