It is becoming more and more evident that it is usually difficult for pupils to focus during classes. There are some clear reasons why this is the case, and the situation can be changed for the better in a couple of ways.
Causes of students’ distraction from their tasks and loss of attention differ. The most typical one is stress and anxiety. When a student is stressed, his or her brain shifts into a heightened state of alertness, making it difficult to focus on tasks that require concentration, such as studying. Fatigue and lack of sleep are another significant factor. They cause physical exhaustion, affecting energy levels and motivation. Furthermore, when tired, our brains cannot easily process information. Memory and thinking slow down, making it hard to perceive and retain materials.
There are a few ways to improve concentration at school. Support is one of the most necessary. By providing meditation techniques, groups, or classes, and by encouraging physical activities before exams and lessons, stress levels could be reduced. It is essential for students to stay energized. If night sleep is limited, or 24 hours is not enough for a strong sleep, school admissions should allow for short-time rests of about 15–30 minutes. Such day breaks will help adjust bio rhythms and reduce them.
In conclusion, growing tendency toward difficulties with focusing among students is primarily a result of emotional distress and poor physical condition. In my view, these challenges should be the center of attention for teachers and school administrations.
