Nowadays, individuals with farmer backgrounds tend to switch place of residence to cities in order to find work. While, it is undeniable that it will negatively affect overall agricultural output, I believe that it can be easily solved by encouraging local people to stay at farms.
Firstly, agricultural products will experience huge increase in cost due to the lack of workforce in farms, which will lower the amount of products available as less people are making them. In addition, the production speed will decrease because of inadequate workforce again. On cities side, there will be more and more people from farms and all over the world which will cause big competition for jobs because of overpopulation in cities. Moreover, high population density in cities will lead to high accommodation cost as the many individuals in cities live in very small apartments. For example Tokyo capital of Japan which is one of the most populated cities in the world with 37 million people, there are housing problems and high costs every where even for outskirt houses.
However, there are many ways to solve these problems that I know, and all of them are linked with government. Government by having a lot of financial force could encourage people from farms to stay there, for example they could raise farmers’ salaries as the one of the main points to move to urban areas for farmers is to earn more. Additionally, they could ease farmers job by providing them special equipment or agricultural transport to make their work easier, and they could make farmers live more convenient and optimal for them by building all necessary structures as hospitals, schools and entertainment . For instance, many of farms are located at the further sides of the countries with good grounds with no comforts of our century.
In conclusion, although there are lots problems such as overpopulation in cities and lack of workforce in farms, it can still be solved by some action from government like increasing salaries and providing convenience to farms.
