It is very common nowadays, for people specially teenagers to do sightseeing for the mere purpose of taking photos rather than actually enjoying the place. In this essay, I will explain the reasons behind that and why I tend to disagree with this trend.
Social media has occupied a huge part of our lives in the recent years. This technology evolution has invaded not only our homes but also our brains. It became a huge part of our daily routine to the extent that people are now more concerned about posting their updates rather than enjoy their real life’s events. For example, Facebook and Instagram have enormously encouraged this focus on pictures posting. Tiktok challenges have also motivated the recording of real live videos.
On the contrary, few people are still tending to visit new places to see the monuments and enjoy the natural scenes. For instance, upon visiting the inclined tower of Pisa, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, you will definitely recognize its spectacular architectural details. Another example is seeing The Great Pyramids of Egypt and trying to imagine how they were built back then. In addition to, going to natural landscape areas like parks, lakes or rivers, you will instantly feel the calmness and peace there.
In conclusion, although the majority of people nowadays only goes to new places to take great photos, there is still a hidden joy in exploring the place itself. I wholeheartedly agree with the saying “make memories rather than taking photos”.
