Nowadays, many youngsters are often safer, healthier, and financially comfortable than previous ones, but they are often less happy. I believe these are contributed by social pressure, excessive comparisons with others, and these problems can be reduced through education and healthier daily habits.
One main reason is that social media encourages them to compare their lives with others. They may believe their peers are more successful, financially comfortable, and attractive, even though their posts rarely show the real atmosphere. This may develop a bad habit called comparison inside of them. Another reason is that the pressure comes from their inside; they always think about being successful, and achieving better careers at an early age. When they think that only one decision will conclude their future, they always feel uncomfortable, and less happy.
There are several measure that can reduce these problems. Firstly, schools should teach how to use social media critically, and how to manage their stress. Lessons such as managing stress, and not comparing lives can help youngsters understand that posts on social media are often unrealistic and everyone has setbacks during their lives. Secondly, parents should focus not only their future income, but also focus on their interests, and personal progress. Finally, young people can benefit from not overthinking, not comparing their lives with fake lifestyles of others.
To conclude, lower happiness among young people is often linked to online comparison. Families, friends, and young people can play a vital role to find their carrer.
