Band 4+: More and more young people from wealthy countries are spending a short time in communities in poorer countries doing unpaid work such as teaching or building houses. Why? Who benefit from this, the community or these young people?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Each year the number of young people from rich countries, who works as a teacher or builder for free in poorer country’s communities increases. It is common practice to support poor countries, and I believe that young people get more advantages because it is a chance to improve significant skills for life.

The main reason is a desire to help countries of third world as it gives an opportunity for high-quality education and workforce. The prominent evidence is the republic of Africa, where is a lack of economical resources and low living conditions. For example, in the past centuries outstanding individuals build schools there, and even famous actress Angelina Jolie volunteered in poor regions of world. Today, youth becomes more tolerant and empathic, therefore they tend to be a volunteer and work without salary. Such practice allows them to gain wide experience and show the sense of kindness.

In this case, volunteering activity in education and building fields are useful for the young people, because there are a great number of companies which already support poor countries. Young people are individuals who are approximately 16 and over years old. Adopting to poor conditions and exchanging experience with indigenous are correct way to self-developing. Such responsible professions absolutely make young people hardworking and ambitious. Moreover, spending time in communities as a volunteer defines as a valuable extracurricular activity. It can help young people to get a good university in the future.

In conclusion, works related to helping poor countries suggest big financial help and qualified workers. Volunteering in this way not only help others, but also develop skills in young people and complement portfolio.
