Nowadays, people prefer to give birth when they are older. There are differing opinions on whether bearing children later in life is advantageous or detrimental. This essay aims to explore both perspectives and provide my opinion on this matter.
From the family perspective, having kids early in life allows parents to be more involved in the child’s life. With the smaller age gap between them, parents can relate better with the struggles and joys of their child, which is important for forging a strong parent-child relationship. From the vocational standpoint, the population is likely to increase if people decided to start a family at a younger age. Therefore, more people will be in the workforce, subsequently improving the country’s economy, leading to a prosperous and affluent nation.
Despite the aforementioned benefits of being young parents, it is important for an individual to take their financial status into consideration during family planning. Young parents often have insufficient savings to fully raise children as they are still early in their careers with relatively low salaries. In some cases, parents feel guilty when they are incapable of providing a comfortable life for their children due to financial restriction. Furthermore, the country will witness an increase in aging population in the future. As more people are eligible to receive a pension, a huge portion of tax money are directed for it. Many people argue that these funds should instead be allocated to improve public amenities, such as infrastructures, services and welfare programs.
In conclusion, while having kids earlier in life is beneficial for the family and country in some way, the drawbacks should not be disregarded. Nevertheless, financial support should be provided by the government to families who are planning to have children but are grappling with financial problems. As the saying goes, “Family is not an important thing. It’s everything.”
