Nowadays, new advancements in technology sector allowed the government to keep citizens under control by using cell phones and security cameras,regardless of their awareness. In my opinion the negative repercussions of this trend far outweigh any advantages.
Seen in a positive light through technological advancements like telephone tracking and surveillance cameras, the government and the police can have a chance to deter people effectively from carrying out criminal acts.When the illegal activities like theft and violence occur at somewhere ,politicians might find out the whole data about these by watching recorded videos which are unwanted by many people. For example, in Uzbekistan, there are a huge numbers of illegal acts and the government is tough to impose strict punishment and cameras. This ,in turn, can lead to a way in which criminal behavior can be alleviated.
Despite the benefits described above,there are a number of concerns. Firstly,in countries where human rights are ignored,the use of security cameras or listening devices may be harmful to society. People who work in crucial sectors,should hold meetings and give their opinion. At that time,listening devices are concerned to be disadvantageous to them which is harmful to their interaction with others. This, in turn, can cause debilitating feelings such as anxiety and uncomfortableness. Additionally, by imposing security cameras and cellphone tracking, it can do more harm than good, when it comes to privacy. The governmental bodies can monitor people’s movements and opinions,wills which can lead to a loss of privacy and safety. In the worst case scenario,it is easy for other people to view this information or data or for the site owners to use data or photographs for their own financial gain, which is currently the case with some countries.
Although there are some benefits that monitoring local citizens brings-including reducing the crime rate- the problems it poses to the crucial aspects of social interaction and our privacy are impossible to be ignored.
