The festivals celebrated in various countries have their own stories, legends, hold their own significant values and unite communities correspondingly. Today, there has been instances where people, rather than respecting the values of the festivals, tend to look at them like a means of entertainment and enjoyment.
The major importance behind any festival is usually linked to the stories, myths or true incidents in history. These significances are well addressed by many people who have lived and respected their culture learnt from their ancestors. During any festival, there are aged people still holding onto their rituals, igniting the traditional beliefs exactly the way they are supposed to. Same intent may not be seen from the youths of this century given the fact that the times have altered drastically.
Many people today seek for such religious festivals merely for celebrating their culture. As a matter of fact, they see the festivals as an opportunity to either rest or enjoy in a more contemporary fashion. Activities such as going on a vacation trip, a gathering with colleagues or simply celebrating the festival for an instance and taking the whole day off have been very common among youths. Their major objective is to feel that delight all by themselves and turn a blind eye to the reality that we slowly losing the essence of our religion and culture.
In conclusion, I would like to support the fact that religious and traditional festivals are the reason we can be proud of our culture and represent who we are. Thus, we must respect the values they enrich us with, for these festivals connect communities or years to come. Enjoying the core essentials of any festival shall automatically help us celebrate them properly and enjoy every bit of it.
