Music has always existed. From ancient times to our modern world, music was always part of every society and is impregnated from all the different cultures around the world. Before, music was shaed live during concerts or even private shows. Slowly, musician or singer became a job on its own and artist would be paid for their work. With the development of technology, the start of the radio, tapes, records, music could be recorded and then shared without the presence of the artist. Since then, there has been a debate around the propriety of music and weather is it the belonging of the artist who created it or wether it should be shared to everyone.
Throughout the years, music has mostly been shared through two different methods. It was either shared for free to the people in order for them to appreciate it or shared but with a fee to reward the artist from his hard work.
Some people think that music should be free to expand ones culture and make them feel different things. Indeed, music is a lot about feeling. It can make you feel happy or sad and gives an extra taste to life. In order to create these feelings to the majority it is indeed needed to be shared to the whole wide world.
Others, on an other side, suggest that it is the propriety of the artist only and that it should be sahed only with their authorisation. For an artist who created a piece of music, who spend time and probably money on instruments, studio renting or other fees, he needs to get something back from his work and, since he made it, it is his own.
