Band 4+: News editors decide what to broadcast on television and what to print in newspapers. What factors do you think influence these decisions? Do we become used to bad news, and would it be better if more good news was reported

Nowadays, news editors decide what to display on TV and the content of newspapers. I think it’s a great practice. Thanks to editors we can avoid incorrect news with bad constructed content. There are some factors that influence editors’ decisions. As we know there are a lot of unimportant news in the certain country or in the entire world. The first factor is a time. Usually, news programs don’t have enough time for all news that happend in the country. That’s why editors are good at time management and must consider given time for the TV program. They should cover the time frame with the most important and useful news. For example, I have a friend who works in “Ictimai Tv” and he also have a strict time frame to complete his tasks, because consumers won’t wait for him to complete the tasks whenever he wants. I think it is the most important aspect that have big influnece on news editor’s decisions. However, sometimes we can see unusefull and even a dangerous content on the TV and newspapers. It’s editors’ decisions too. I understand that not every news should be good and sometimes we got bad and unpleasant news as well. Although, it’s better to display bad news more accurate than it actually is. For instance, if some country got rocket attack and has many killed people, the right way it’s not showing the result of that attack. Just inform people about it and that’s it. I think it will be good to display more good news on TV. It will reduce general social stress in the society. To sum up, in my opinion the most important factor is a time. At the same time I think it should be more good news for people for their mental health.
