People are become more enthusiastic to follow news everyday. Due to answering to this demand, news agencies begun to
broadcast from every available distrubition channel including social media and online newspapers. Since govermental restriction is lower on online media agencies begun to publish more news accompanied by photographs and images. I believe that publishing news with images could improve news quality and understandability for the readers.
First of all demonstrating physical world is very challenging by words. Many journalist tries to bolster the impact of the news via photographs. For instance journalist Blair Curtis never express the civilian casualties at Gulf War without a realistical photograph. Also many people are not visualise or comperhand the destruction of a war without seeing in the first place or by a picture. This aspect also effective on traffic accidents or natural disasters like earthquakes or landslides and wildfires. Therefore visulisation has severe positive impact on the news.
Additionally defining term like big, enormous could be insignificant due to lack of technical knowledge. For example a survey took place in İstanbul about richter vibration scale and many citizens questioned about comparsion between two 6.8 and 7.9 richter scaled earthquakes. Most of the citizens answered ten percent between them but when surveyer show the picture of the earthquakes result they fully understood the mistake they made because richter is a logaritmic based scale and increases ten to the power therefore it was ten times bigger then previous one.
To sum up there is a general belief of words power on people but this encounters shows visualisation has bigger impact than words and i totally agree on this statement.
