Band 9: Nowadays environmental problems are too big for individual countries or people to solve. We have reached the stage where we need cooperation on an international level to protect the environment. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Environmental issues such as climate change, air pollution, and the loss of biodiversity have become global concerns that affect every nation. I strongly agree that these problems are too complex for individuals or single countries to solve alone, and that international cooperation is essential to protect the environment effectively.

The main reason for this is that environmental problems do not respect national borders. For example, greenhouse gases released in one country contribute to global warming worldwide, while plastic waste dumped into oceans can travel across continents. If only a few countries adopt strict environmental policies while others continue polluting, the overall impact will remain limited. Therefore, coordinated global action is necessary to achieve meaningful results.

Furthermore, international cooperation enables countries to share technology, financial resources, and scientific knowledge. Developed nations can assist developing countries by providing renewable energy technologies, funding conservation projects, and supporting sustainable development. Such collaboration allows poorer nations to reduce pollution without slowing their economic growth. International agreements, such as those aimed at reducing carbon emissions, also encourage governments to work towards common environmental goals.

However, this does not mean that individuals and national governments have no responsibility. People can contribute by recycling, reducing energy consumption, and using public transport, while governments can enforce environmental laws and invest in clean energy. These local actions are valuable, but they are unlikely to solve global environmental challenges unless they are supported by international cooperation.

In conclusion, I completely agree that environmental problems have reached a scale that requires countries to work together. Although individual efforts and national policies remain important, only coordinated international action can effectively address the environmental challenges facing the world today.
