Some individuals believe that the relocation of marine life habitats from the sea to amusement parks to serve human entertainment needs. Personally, I assumed that changes in their habitats account for disadvantages outstrip advantages.
On the one hand, the advantage of relocating sea animals is helping species that are on the verge of extinction. These animals can serve as ambassadors to their species and be used for research purposes to find a way to protect them from the risk of extinction. For example, a rare and extremely vulnerable fish is under scientific studies and trials to protect and raise its population. Another positive point is tourism economy development. This means that, owing to the presence of these animals in unnatural waters at entertainment parks, the number of visitors will be increased.
On the other hand, there are some persuasive relationales that support the claim that moving marine animals from their natural habitats could be considered, its actual application could bring about many obstacles and problems. That means it is required to relocate in large numbers over periods of time, leading to disadvantages to some species that are difficult to adapt and therefore cause problems for the diversity of marine ecosystems. For example, in Indonesia, since an increase in the demand for fulfilling the parks’ necessities of the ecosystem, they encouraged the unethical pace for relocating some animals to the amusement places, driving the beach environment to become unstable. This led to the country seeing a significant drop in biodiversity.
To sum up, these days, there are two reasons for relocating sea creatures to non-real waters such as education and entertainment. Although these changes have upsides, including increasing the number of rare species and improving tourism, they also have downsides such as illegal poaching and decreasing the living quality of these creatures, which may outweigh the pros.
