Currently, sea creatures are moved to the aquariums or tourist attractions from their habitat for the entertainment of people. While this offers financial and educational benefits, they are outweighed by the challenges which occur during captivity and training of marine animals.
Marine creatures can lead to large profits, and also allow people to understand them more deeply. In some countries, there is no access to the ocean or sea, which means that people have no opportunity to observe marine animals in their natural habitat. As a result, sea creatures have become extremely popular, as they offer a rare chance to see these animals. For example, this kind of situation was seen in Tashkent. Since the city is located far from oceans, a marine animal show was organised in one of the local parks, and it lasted for several months. During this time, it attracted both tourists and local people. Moreover, after the show, people can get closer to marine animals. There are specialists who explain how old they are, what they eat, and how they live. This helps visitors understand marine life better and increases their knowledge about it.
However, animals will not be free, as they have to live in limited space, and they can be trained in a rude way. After marine animals are brought from their natural habitats to confined space, their new environment can seem dangerous, since they cannot swim freely or hunt due to the small space and lack of access to their usual food. Moreover, to force marine animals to perform various tricks, they can be strictly punished. For example, they may be denied food or even hit to make them obey. Because of this, the animals can feel fear and perform tricks not because they want to, but because they are afraid of punishment.
In conclusion, even though marine animal shows can bring financial benefits and provide opportunities to learn about them, these advantages are outweighed by the negative aspects, such as the animals losing their freedom and being trained with harsh punishments.
