Many people argue that the administration should take immediate actions to diminish the obesity rate in children. I strongly disagree with this opinion because weight depends on genetics, and parents often prioritize children’s academic studies.
Firstly, DNA is regarded as a major factor in weight gain.
Since human’s body composition varies significantly, which leads to the different food absorption of each person. For example, my sister is overweight, she always tries to cut down on sugar and high calorie foods on her diet and chooses healthy eating patterns and less sugar and fat.In contrast, her weight is not decreased despite her efforts. It is clear that the government cannot intervene in people’s DNA to alter their weight.
Secondly, the majority of parents think that the children’s education is more significant than children’s weight. For parents, ,obesity in their kids does not matter unless children’s academic performances are good. My brother, for instance, whenever he gets high grades, his parents will order fast food such as chips, soda, fried chicken,…. as a compliment. For that reason, parent’s mindset cannot be changed about weight management by the administration.
For the outline mentioned above, I believe that the government cannot solve this problem. Mature people should care more about children’s healthy diet, which would have a positive impact on the obesity rate.
