It is argued that contemporary children have been subject to obesity, so governments should take immediate action to mitigate this issue. I vehemently disagree with the stance.
To begin with, weight gain can be attributed to human genes. Indeed, human bodies’ composition vary significantly, leading to the huge differences in food absorption of each person. For example, a man can easily become obese in a short amount of time, although he does a workout and follow a balanced diet on a regular basis. This means that human genes can be considered a major reason for overweight. Accordingly, authorities can do nothing to interfere the structure of genes in an effort to support citizens with their weight. In contrast, each individual should pay attention to their routines to keep their weight under control without any thoughts of reliance on government aids.
Moreover, instead of blaming this situation for the government, parents should take responsibility for indulging their children in sugary-sweetened foods, resulting in a high rate of obesity. In recent time, parents have been concentrating on their children’s academic performance, which makes them less mindful of the risks of obesity. For instance, as children can perform well in their examination, parents may reward them with a bigger portion of their favorite foods such as processed foods or snacks. Consequently, children may get used to this action and ask more rewards for their next improvement. In the long run, the excessive exposure to high-calory foods play a crucial role in gaining weight.
In conclusion, I do not concur with the statement since it has been challeging for governemts to address this situation because of the big impact of genes on human weight. Moreover, families should be regarded as a key factor for this issue
