As the world is becoming more globalized, numerous manufacturing units are emerging in various places around the world. Personally, I believe that this phenomenon yields many benefits as a whole, despite having some drawbacks.
The introduction of many companies’ production sites in different regions can bring about certain drawbacks. Firstly, this development necessitates substantial investment in various aspects such as workforce training or acquiring equipment. This, in turn, poses a monetary challenge to many businesses, especially for startups and smaller enterprises with limited budgets. As a result, those companies might struggle to allocate their resources effectively to other critical aspects like marketing or research, which are important for growth and competitiveness. Another disadvantage is that operating in a foreign or unfamiliar area can give rise to miscommunication due to cultural differences and language barriers, for example, Western corporations initially face difficulty in understanding Asian’s communication styles, thereby resulting in potential conflicts and further inefficiencies.
However, I am convinced that the advantages are more significant. To begin with, businesses might be easily accessible to a new talented labor force. This can be seen in one of the most famous technological companies, Apple, which has established several manufacturing sites in places with highly skilled and effective workforces like China and India. This not only helps Apple reduce production costs but also benefits from the innovation and creativity that come with access to diverse talent pools. Furthermore, it is important to note that this expansion also greatly contributes to enterprises’ efforts to explore numerous promising markets to import their items, ultimately maximizing their profits and boosting brand image towards a larger section of consumers in that market.
In conclusion, albeit having several disadvantages, I wholeheartedly think that the policy of establishing many production complexes in distinct areas can be beneficial such as easily accessing a new talented labour force or seeking more potential markets to sell their products, thereby generating massive profits and enhancing the brand image for broader customers.
