In this contemporary epoch, there has been a noticeable trend of many individuals migrating to metropolitan areas for employment and education opportunities. While I agree that this tendency may trigger some drawbacks, I would argue that it is an overall positive trend
There are two primary reasons why the migration of young people to large cities is positive .The first persuasive reason is the availability of employment opportunities. Unlike rural areas, big cities are economic hubs that offer a wider range of employment in various sectors, from technology to finance. To illustrate, tech professionals in Vietnam often move to Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi to access better-paid jobs and global companies. Secondly, there is no denying the fact that urban centres are typically home to prestigious universities, advanced training institutes, and state-of-the-art healthcare facilities. Thus, not only do families ensure better schooling for their children but it also helps them to get access to specialized medical care.
However, some opponents may insist that young generations flocking to metropolises may cause overpopulation and congestion. Unequivocally, it is mass migration of young people to urban areas that leads to environmental degradation. By this I mean, massive inflows of people can strain infrastructure, resulting in traffic jams, overcrowded public transportation, and increased emissions. A good illustration is in metropolitan cities like Jakarta and Bangkok that are notorious for their frequent delays during rush hour. In my opinion, it is a misguided view. In reality, the arrival of a younger, more educated population often acts as a driving force for innovation and sustainable urban development. By this I mean, many cities have been prompted to upgrade public transportation systems, promote green urban planning, and invest in sustainable infrastructure by the government. That creates favorable conditions for the youngers to improve professionally.
In conclusion, from the aforementioned points, I reaffirm that while I agree that this trend may bring about some negatives, I would argue that its demerits are negated by its advantages.
