There are two primary reasons as to why many young couples decide to delay their childbirth. Firstly, many individuals believe that financial security is a prerequisite for starting a family. This stems from the fact that in the past, many newlyweds struggled to sustain a comfortable lifestyle after having children due to financial burdens, leading to marital conflicts and family breakdowns. Secondly, in modern society, young adults increasingly prioritize personal fulfillment over parenthood. For instance, despite earning a stable income, many individuals in developed nations choose to allocate their resources towards traveling, personal development, and leisure activities rather than raising children.

This trend could have an adverse bearing on both families and our communities. One of the major downsides is the health impact on the mother and infant’s health. Scientific research has consistently shown that pregnancies at an advanced maternal age (30 and above) significantly increase the risk of complications such as miscarriages, stillbirths, and congenital disorders like Down syndrome.
