It is often argued that technology should play a greater role in children’s education, while others believe that traditional teaching methods are more effective. Although technology is beneficial, I think conventional approaches may create a more structured learning environment.
On the one hand, digital tools can provide additional information and educational materials which are necessary for the lesson. This means that they are not limited to the information provided by their teachers or textbooks and can explore topics deeper. For instance, students who do not understand particular topics can find videos, online resources on the internet explained in a simple way. Moreover, on a cutting-edge of AI, it offers pupils a wide range of educational apps, simulations and instant feedbacks. Therefore, they can gain a broader understanding of different subjects.
On the other hand, traditional teaching methods can be more effective because they allow teachers to maintain direct control over the learning process. In a conventional classroom, students are more likely to concentrate on the lesson and actively participate in discussions without being distracted by social media, games or other online content. Furthermore, face-to-face interaction enables teachers to identify students’ difficulties and provide immediate guidance based on their individual needs. For example, when explaining a complicated mathematical problem, a teacher can observe students’ reactions and adjust their explanation accordingly. As a result, traditional methods can create a more disciplined and focused learning environment.
In conclusion, although technology provides students with access to a vast amount of information and innovative educational resources, I believe that traditional teaching methods remain more effective overall. The direct interaction between teachers and students and the structured nature of conventional classrooms can help children stay focused and develop a deeper understanding of their subjects.
