In modern times, the desire for instant results such as services, information, or tasks has been prevalent among the masses. There are some catalysts including the proliferation of technological devices and apps behind this trend. Personally, I believe that this is a negative development overall due to the sedentary lifestyle and a lack of patience.
To begin with, the most significant factor leading to expectations of instant outcomes is the rapid advancement of technology. In fact, the emergence of the Internet, smartphones, and on-demand services has changed our way of life. For example, people can have food and other products delivered to their doorsteps with a few clicks through e-commercial platforms. Moreover, a number of household chores devices such as robotic vacuums and washing machines can save manual labor and time, fostering productivity and effectiveness.
However, I contend that despite the benefits of time-saving and efficiency, this inclination toward instant fulfillment can have an adverse bearing on individuals and society. On an individual level, excessive reliance on autonomy can result in physical inactivity diseases, doubling the risks of obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and other health issues. On a social level, this phenomenon can decrease patience and resilience. To be specific, as people become accustomed to immediate results, their tolerance for delays diminishes, leading to increased frustration and irritability when things don’t happen as quickly as they expected. Moreover, the ability to cope with challenges and setbacks can weaken, as instant solutions prevent the development of problem-solving skills and perseverance, making people ill-prepared for their real lives in the future.
In conclusion, the desire for an immediate complement is sharpened by the growth of advanced technology. Although this trend can facilitate people’s lifestyles by cutting down on time and labor, I am of the opinion that this rapid lifestyle is ultimately a negative development because it poses some hazardous threats to human health and raises individuals’ impatience.
