Positive And Negative

Band 8+: Nowadays more and more people want to get things done instantly. Why is it? Do you think it is a positive or negative development?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

The modern world has helped people obtain new services, information and tasks constantly at ease. While this has brought phenomenal results for humans, it still brings certain implicit threats to products’ quality and personality.

On the one hand, as countries are becoming increasingly interconnected, services like trading products and delivery from other provinces only take a day to reach buyers, encouraging their purchases and gratification. With this comes a variety of advancements in the delivery systems to shorten the delivery time, in turn gaining better profits for businesses. Besides, the internet supplies humans with a constant barrage of information to keep au fait with the world changes, fostering a sense of global citizenship and even guaranteeing safety. For example, instant updates about natural disasters nearby render public awareness and individuals’ resilience to protect their lives.

On the other hand, this trend is not without its drawbacks. A society where people are always in a hasty mode could promote a sense of urgency and impatience. In the long run, this may hinder the career trajectories of doctors or lawyers who need intense concentration and time to attain necessary expertise. Besides, being bombarded with new things frequently could lead to an emphasis on quantity over quality. Admittedly, requiring a surplus of goods and information in place is at the expense of qualifications and credibility. To illustrate, individuals may be temporarily satisfied by instant goods but these may later be ruined and broken down. Similarly, publications can trade the reliability information for a larger scale of readers. Consequently, ill news flies apace and this could cause a furor and unimaginable repercussions within a society, especially when it comes to politics and religions.

In conclusion, while people and businesses are at the mercy of instant gratification, the bottom line is that this is a double-edged sword that can lead to a trigger-bound society and products’ authenticity.
