Recent investigations have showcased a massive raise in immigration in the last decade. Although there are some valid arguments about the integration of newcomers into their new country, I am of the opinion that it is without any doubt their responsibility to adopt themselves to the laws of their adopted country. Both written and unwritten. My reasons are as follows.
First of all, laws and social rules are the foundation of every country, and it is crucial to obey them in order to have a healthy society. Ignoring those rules and customs would lead to nothing, but chaos, and that applies to immigrants as well. Imagine the chaos that would occur if a part of society refused to stop behind the red lights on the streets. Hence, it is extremely vital that the immigrants observe and acquire the rules and traditions of their new country regardless of any differences in laws in their home country. Gambling and having the right to purchase a firearm are further instances of the matter which are legal in some countries and illegal in others.
In addition, in order to maintain the social cohesion, it is essential that the rules be respected by the newcomers. Although having different cultures and traditions in society gives a country color and life force, too much diversity would tear that society apart due to the lack of sense of belonging. I believe similarities bring people together, whereas differences have a tendency to isolate them.
By way of conclusion, I would like to restate that I am of the opinion that ignoring and disobeying the laws would lead to chaos, yet following them would result in unity. Also, immigrants as a part of society must adopt and adjust themselves to the laws of their adopted country. (296 Words)
