There is no disputing the fact that immigration rate has been escalating during the contemporary era. This raises serious arguments and questions about integration of newcomers into adopted countries. Although there are multitude of valid arguments to the contrary, some people are of the opinion that immigrants ought to observe local rules and behave accordingly. I personally agree with the latter view and the reasons are twofold.
First of all, it is an undisputable fact that influx of immigration could result in degradation of local culture as the newcomers can disturb the social cohesion. It is, thus, necessary for the immigrants to adapt to the social norms of the destination country. Although cultural diversity can bring more understanding and acceptance between people of different backgrounds and make the society more vibrant, I personally believe that the drawbacks of over diversity outweigh its overall positivity, since it might result in alienating people from each other and deterioration of cultural heritage in the region.
Secondly and more importantly, immigrants tend to work extended hours satisfied with lower payment., Companies, therefore, incline more towards to hiring the outsiders than the local workers. Subsequently, leading to unemployment amongst the local work force. As the outcome of such difficulty, local residents outcast the newcomers leading to division between adopted countries’ people and immigrants. From my standpoint, it is vitally crucial for the government to put and end to the discrimination between the local and newcomer workers, as they all have the right to be equally paid.
By way of conclusion, I once again restate my opinion that although some developed countries are receiving an elevating number of immigrants, this is likely to become problematic in a foreseeable future. Thus, further consideration might be demanded from the authorities.
