It is increasingly common for people to own car,TV and fridge nowadays. In this essay I will discuss both benefits and drawbacks of this development before presenting which one is more prominent.
On the one hand, these technological products have made people lives much easier and more satisfying. For example, thanks to fridge, food now can be kept longer and safely, which helps reduce significantly food waste and related costs.Similarly,TV provides a cheap and simple way for families to spend time together and keep them updated or educated through TV eduactional programs or news. For individuals who live far away from workplace or public facilities, owning a car may be a plus.As it is not only time-efficient but also offers a certain level of freedom.
However,on the other hand,as most people can afford car, TV or fridge. This may unintentionally set a unrealistic standard for everyone. When the ownership of these items are normalized, society may fall into trap of continuously consuming without considering whether they cater to their lives. As a result, instead of enhancing life satisfaction,it may serve as a race of money and status.
Another noticeable issue is the burden on environment.A car can be extremely useful for someone, but if it is used by many households at the same time. This could lead to traffic congestion in rush hours and cause heavy pressure on road infrastructure.
In conclusion, although cars,TVs and fridges can improve convenience, the widespread ownership can also encourage excessive consumption and place additional pressure on infrastructure and environment. For these reasons ,I believe that the disadvantages outweight the benefits.
