Nowadays, social problems among teenagers are becoming increasingly common. Some people argue that these issues are caused by parents spending more time at work than with their children. Personally, although I agree that a lack of parental attention contributes to these problems, I believe that other factors also play an important role.
In modern society, parents often work long hours to provide a better future for their children. As a result, a lack of communication may weaken family relationships and leave teenagers feeling emotionally unsupported. Consequently, they may hesitate to share their problems with their parents. Moreover, without proper parental guidance, teenagers may turn to friends for advice, even if they encourage negative behaviour. This can make them more vulnerable to peer pressure and lead to poor decisions.
However, other factors are equally important. Firstly, social media can negatively affect teenagers’ lives. Some may become addicted to it and spend too much time online instead of communicating with family and friends. Moreover, comparing themselves with others can make them feel insecure and unhappy, affecting their mental well-being. Secondly, bullying at school can contribute to social problems. Teenagers who experience bullying may feel lonely and lose confidence in themselves. Consequently, they may become aggressive towards others or avoid social interactions. Furthermore, some may behave badly because they want to fit in with a particular group of friends.
In conclusion, although parents’ busy schedules and lack of attention can contribute to social problems among teenagers, I believe that social media and bullying are also significant causes. Therefore, addressing these issues requires attention from both parents and schools.
