Band 4+: Nowadays, there is more and more competition for getting into university. Is this a positive or negative development?

None of us can’t disagree that competition to get into university now is more popular than in the past and it brings a lot of advantages for students but besides that, it also brings disadvantages to them. So i will discuss both views

On the right hand, more entrance exam is an effective way to manage the number get into universities because of the increase in the population nowadays and it will improve their knowledge system. Being trained in a good university will create an outstanding educational for the future . For example, in Viet Nam, there are many of competition for students such as the Competency Assessment Exam, the university entrance exam,…. etc

On the other hand, too much competition lead to academic pressure for them such as anxiety and they have to work as hard as possible to achieve the best grade for their parents. If they didn’t get good grade, their parents will be disappointed and say bad things to them. For example, some strict Asian parents forced their child to do things that they don’t like so it make they feel uncomfortable and pressure to them.

Therefore, in this current situation, i will lean towards to negative opinion. I think if we could reduce the pressure on the qualifications they get by decrease competition in the future
