There is a deabte about whether teenagers should be permitted to use social networking sites, with some arguing that young minds should not use social media, while others advocate that they can use it. In my opinion, I agree that teenagers should use social media; however, I also believe that the guardians of those adolescents should monitor their social media accounts.
Socialising is extremely important for all. In the modern world, where everyone is so busy that they do not have enough time to meet their friends and family on a daily basis, social media is significanlty helpful to connect with the loved ones. Students are also suffering from this problem where they are loaded with a lot os assignments and deadlines. It is social networking sites that help them connect with their peers regularly and hence they can feel connected. A friend of mine, for example, left his hometown for higher education, texts me every night after his classes becuase he is lonely in a new city .He and I share our daily hustle, and share mutual connection.
Despite all benefits, there are online threats as well, such as online fraud, social anxiety, oversharing personal life and continues. As the socialising over internet scaled, scammers found their way to cheat people online. They generally use fake accounts or links to trap people in their scam. Another issue that grew up with social media is social anxiety. As influencers share more about themselves on these apps, young minds tend to follow them blindly without considering their personal choices. Moreover, their results do not meet their expectaions, social anxiety is obvious. These are some of the many reasons that state guardians to monitor the account of their child.
In conclusion, although social media offers many helpful services to young people, it is advised to parents to regularly check thier social media accounts of their child.
